Removal of Dark Circles Under Eyes - Treatment

Summary

• Lines on the lower eyelid can be eradicated with Botox injections  if your skin is firm, elastic and taut.

• Dark circles under eyes and on the lower eyelid respond well to Filler injections,  if you have healthy skin.

Additional treatments for dark circles under eyes are commonly needed and might include:

• Obagi Nu-Derm or Obagi Elastiderm may be needed to help increase skin strength and elasticity and reduce skin pigmentation

• Fraxel or fractional laser treatment or an Obagi Blue Peel can be used to correct skin laxity

Causes of lines on the lower eyelid

• Repeated narrowing of the eyes

• Reduced skin strength and elasticity or increased laxity due to sun-damage, smoking or age

Causes of dark circles on the lower eyelid

• Loss of underlying soft tissue and bone that can be corrected with Filler injections

• A collection of fine blood vessels that will respond to fraxel skin laser treatment

• Increased skin thickness as seen in people with a tendency to eczema

• Increased pigmentation that is often familial but will respond to treatment with Obagi Nu-Derm
