Summary

What Causes A Dermatofibroma?

A Dermatofibroma is thought that they are caused by an abnormal reaction to an insect bite. Most occur at sites on the body that are bitten by insects.

What Is A Dermatofibroma?

A Dermatofibroma is a scar-like reaction that develops under the skin. Usually they are painful when knocked but some itch. Usually they arise in crops of two or three. It is unusual to develop more than five or six of them.

What happens to dermatofibroma?

It is rare for a dermatofibroma to disappear by itself. Occasionally, they will grow to be 3-4 cm in diameter but usually they remain less than 5mm in diameter. Sometimes they disappear to leave a dip in the skin.

How Can A Dermatofibroma Be Treated?

Surgery is the only treatment that reliably removes Dermatofibromas. If it is not removed completely, the Dermatofibroma will often grow back.
